Mandy Gibbons Podcast with Bob Burg

Mandy Gibbons Podcast Show ...  SPECIAL GUEST: Bob Burg

For over 30 years Bob has been successfully showing entrepreneurs, leaders, and sales professionals how to communicate their value and accelerate their business growth.

Although for years Bob was best known for his sales classic "Endless Referrals"... it’s his business parable, The Go-Giver, that he co-authored with John David Mann that has created a worldwide movement.

The Go-Giver itself has sold more than one million copies and been translated into 30 languages. It was rated #10 on Inc. Magazine’s list of The Most Motivational Books Ever Written...

AND was on HubSpot’s 20 Most Highly Rated Sales Books of All Time.

Bob is the founder of The Go-Giver Community Network, an incredible online business community created by and for Go-Givers.

Bob is an advocate, supporter, and defender of the Free Enterprise system, believing that the amount of money one makes is directly proportional to how many people they serve.

He is also an unapologetic animal fanatic and served on the Board of Directors of Furry Friends Adoption & Clinic in his town of Jupiter, Florida.

JUST SOME OF THE HIGHLIGHTS AND INSIGHTS IN THIS EPISODE:

Bob talks about his insights into "Giving"... and where his open and genuine approach to living life and doing business came from. And how he experienced and witnessed that sustainably, successful people - mentally, emotionally, relationally, socially - that made the most money, genuinely, and from their heart... provided the most value to others.

I asked Bob about his very calm and confident nature...Where does that come from? Bob shares how as he's got older he's become more confident...and worries less about things than he did when he was younger. And how adopting that older mindset when you're younger can help ground you.

How challenges in Bob's life have supported his own growth and built upon his resilience.
His insights into resilience... including the ability to dust yourself and get back up again... Getting past the "no's"... Re-framing "no's"...

And self acceptance and acknowledging that it's ok that the "no's" don't feel so good. Letting that feeling pass through you... So you don't have to fear the "no's".

What "drive by mentor" means... People that come into our lives at the most unexpected times...That we may, or may never, speak to or see again. And how they just happen to say the exact thing we need to hear, and are ready to hear, at that moment.

The "one golden nugget" of advice from a “drive-by mentor” that totally shifted Bob's perspective and played a big role in his success...

..."if you want to make a lot of money in sales, don't have making money as your target...Your target is serving others... When you hit that target your reward will come in form of money".

Bob shares that great Salesmanship is about the other person, that you're trying to bring value too. It's about another person's life being better, just because you're a part of it.

We discuss how when you come at sales from scarcity, it feels uncomfortable, because it goes against your core values.

"Giving", focusing on providing value, doesn't mean that you're not "receiving".

Why it's important to study prosperity.

Bob shares The Five Laws of Stratospheric Success...And how it applies to "Giving" and "Receiving"....

The Law of Value - Your true worth is determined by how much more you give in value than you take in payment.

The Law of Compensation - Your income is determined by how many people you serve and how well you serve them.

The Law of Influence - Your influence is determined by how abundantly you place other people’s interests first.

The Law of Authenticity - The most valuable gift you have to offer is yourself.

The Law of Receptivity - The key to effective giving is to stay open to receiving

We discuss that it doesn't matter what your financial situation is, we all have value to provide.

The Golden Rule of Business and Sales..."All things being equal, people will do business with, and refer business to, those people they know, like, and trust."

As a strong Resilient man... Bob shares what resilience means to him...
Whether we're men or women, we can learn from others and learn from our own life experiences... In many ways, as amazing human beings, we are much more alike than we are different.

Bob shares how we can implement and apply "The Go-Giver" way... and asking "how do I provide value to this person?" "Is this going to bring value to this person".

And that value is subjective and why it's important not to assume that what we would find of value, is what someone else would find of value.

And why it's important to pay attention, ask questions, listen... so we can add value. And touch the lives of others.

Bob shares his insights into "authenticity" and acting congruently with your values.
